很少人不為吉姆克羅琪醇厚而樸實的歌聲所感動（Jim Croce不唸成"吉姆克羅斯"），但其貌不揚的吉姆克羅琪在成名之前曾做過許多工作，其中大部分都是要靠勞力的粗活。因為他的手指曾經被重鎚擊傷，迫使他必須改變彈吉他的方式，或大部分只彈和絃，由搭檔Maury Muehleisen彈分解和絃，兩人的合作創造了許多美妙的聲響，這也使得許多學習民謠吉他的人，都會把吉姆克羅琪的作品當成必學範本。
